VAILLANT

VAILLANT is a french designer house founded in paris by Alice Vaillant in 2020. The house explores the relationship between inner and outer - between exposure and protection. ​ An intuitive way of dressing, defined by attitude and ease. ​Alice Vaillant’s silhouettes reflect distinctive aesthetic and identity: resilient, adventurous yet approachable, with a touch of futurism. ​​

Dance lies at the heart of Alice Vaillant’s vision. Her years at the paris opera ballet school shaped a sensitivity to the body, its gestures and its freedom. Silhouettes express a considered sensuality, where architectural precision meets fluid materials, and the interplay of concealment and revelation leaves room for imagination. ​

Material guides the creative process. Calais lace, a signature of the house, reveals the skin beneath structured outerwear, extending the conversation between intimacy and the outside world. Textures and contrasts give each piece its character, with close attention to craft and detail. 

​Drawing on the nouvelle vague, the attitude of 1970s parisian icons and modernist architecture, Vaillant builds a wardrobe that moves between references and everyday life. Pieces are designed to be worn instinctively, combined freely and made personal. ​

ALICE VAILLANT

Born in Paris, Alice Vaillant grew up in an artistic environment, learning to sew in her grandmother’s costume atelier. She trained at the Paris Opera Ballet School before later joining the ateliers of the Palais Garnier. 

These experiences shaped her understanding of the body, movement and construction, and continue to inform her approach to design.​After leaving dance, she studied Fashion Design in Montreal before completing a Master’s in Womenswear in Paris. 

She went on to work at Jean Paul Gaultier Couture and Nina Ricci under Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh before founding Vaillant in 2020.​

Her work has been recognised with the Ville de Paris Prize, and she was a finalist for the ANDAM Pierre Bergé Prize in 2023 and 2024.​Alice thinks in silhouettes, building a repertoire of proportions, gestures and textures that evolves over time, guided by a precise understanding of how women move, feel and live.​
